To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Lucky I consider myself a very lucky person. During my annual PAP / Breast Exam my doctor found a suspicious lump between my left breast and underarm. Immediately I was scheduled for a mammogram and ultrasound. Turned out the left side was merely a swollen lymph but the right breast showed a small but clear tumor along with another area the pathologist called “worriesome”. After ultrasounds, biopsies and an MRI it was determined that I had invasive ductal carcinoma and DCIS. Having a family history of cancer on both sides, the plan became very clear. My mastectomy was scheduled. I am now about one month post-op and have received my pathology report. All margins clear, no lymph node involvement, no additional treatment at this time. It DOES pay off to have those yearly exams and mammograms!!! Comments
