To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Diagnosed with Severe Dysplasia I had a Mirena IUD put in December of 2005. After about 6 months, I started having so many negative side effects that I couldn’t stand it anymore. So I had it removed in March of 2007. They did a PAP too and it came back abnormal. So in May they did a biopsy which showed that it was severe dysplasia. The nurse practitioner told me that the IUD has been known to increase a woman’s likelihood of contracting viruses and infections including the HPV that leads to dysplasia. They’ve scheduled me to have the LEEP done, but they didn’t schedule it until October 25th. That really freaks me out because it was already severe on May 2nd, so why wait almost 6 whole months before they do the surgery?? The doctor said it’s a slow progressing thing. But I’ve heard some stories about women progressing quickly. How do they know I’m not one of those fast progressors? I’m terrified that they are going to go in for the surgery next month and it’s going to be cancer already or even worse and have spread. I’ve been taking folic acid supplements because I’ve seen numerous websites that really say that it works wonders with cervical dysplasia I’m open to any suggestions anyone can give me at this point! I’m starting to think I need some type of antidepressants or antianxiety to help me through this terrible mess. Comments
