To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Severe Dysplasia I have had abnormal paps every 6 mths. for the past 3 years. At first they just watched it to see if would continue to come back abnormal. The first time I really got concerned was when I was 3 mths. pregnant. I had my first colposcopy done at that time. My Dr. didn’t do too much after that except keep an eye on it due to the fact that I was pregnant. I had another colposcopy and a biopsy done after I had my daughter and everything came back that it was still just low-grade, mild, dysplasia. I went in for a pap a month ago and got a call last week that my pap was abnormal again. I wasn’t too shocked or surprised until they told me that it had progressed to severe dysplasia and they were concerned with how fast it had progressed and how aggressive it seems to be. The course that they would try and do everything possible to get it under control without having to do anything drastic. Drastic being having part or all of my cervix taken out. My heart sank when I heard that. I am only 23 and my husband and I would like to have at least 1 more baby. After my colposcopy in April we will have to discuss whether or not it is a good idea and get pregnant again. I know either way, I have a beautiful daughter and a great ob/gyn and he will do everything he can for me. It’s scary but just something that I have to live with. For anyone else coping with this news, my advice is to try and find peace with it. Otherwise, you will worry yourself sick and 1/2 the time it turns out to be ok. Comments
