To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download “normal” to “severe dysplasia” in less than a year and only 23 yrs old I am 23 years old and I have always gone in for my annual pap smear and my results have always come back normal. I remember hearing stories from other girls that their results were “abnormal” and they need to get a coloscopy. I always felt lucky that I didn’t have to go through that but I guess I jinxed myself. I recently moved after graduating college and I had to pick a new doctor. I had my pap in feburary and in march I got a call saying that my results were abnormal and that I needed a coloscopy. I totally began to freak out but after speaking with my friends and researching online I knew what to expect. I assumed if I had HPV it would be very low risk since i had never had an abnormal pap and cervical dysplasia is so slow growing. My results came back from my coloscopy last week and my doctor called me to come into the office. I almost had a panic attack. I met with my doctor two days ago and I was shocked to learn that I have severe dysplsia. My doctor recommends that I get a LEEP. Not only am I shocked that I never had abnormal cells during any of my annual paps but that when I finally do it comes back as severe. Has this happenned to anyone before? I am freaking about the LEEP too, and I don’t know what to expect. I don’t understand why this has happenned to me, I’ve only had a few sexual partners and all of whom have been previous bfs. I also read online that getting the LEEP is bad to get if your young. Comments
