I am scheduled for a LEEP

My story begins in 1991. I was pregnant with my first daughter when the diagnoses came back. I was mortified, scared and at that time it seemed as the information was…incomplete? The infection went away on its own. After years of normal paps finally this year 2008 I received an abnormal pap.

2 weeks later I was in to a specialist who did the colposcopy. It was painful for me and I bled for a week (light) The results are severe dysplasia, the doctor was to test me for HPV (strain) and never did. So I will not be returning to his office for my recommended LEEP. Taking a Xanax and being asked to hold still on a table for 5 minutes while they shave off 2cm of my cervix is horrible.

I called a women doctor who specialize in women whole care and have an appt. on Nov. 21, I hope everything will be okay. I will say that since the colposcopy sex has been very painful. I have heard scar tissue can build after a LEEP and make things very different. Hopefully this new doctor will be gentle, good, and kind.

  • Does it every really go away? - by Rebekah - (Wed, Oct 29 2008)
2 months before my wedding I received a call from my gyn, regarding by papsmear. It came back abnormal and i would need to go back for more test. They found that I had mild displaysis [dysplasia], and had a coloscopy. This was 3 years ago, I have since been fine until this month. I was informed that it has returned and would need to go through treatment again. I’m 26 years old and don’t understand why I’ve gone through this twice. This time around its been a lot harder for me. I’m angry that I have to go through this again. I’ll i can think about is that I’m to young to have these problems. I’m the type of person who always sees the bad before the good and can’t help but wonder how this will affect me going forward. Its comforting knowing that others have gone through this and are fine now. [more..]
