3 colposcopies and counting…

I’m 25 years old and in June of 2007 I had my first Pap test come back “atypical cells”. Naturally I was scared to death and my doc whom I’ve been seeing since I was 16 didn’t seemed concerned. I’ve been diagnosed with high risk HPV (no symptoms) and I’ve been on a roller-coaster of Pap tests and colposcopies ever since. I don’t know if my doctor is monitoring me very well or if not enough is being done and I hope someone can give me an educated opinion.

The very next month after my first atypical Pap I had a colposcopy and biopsy done. Results of both were “normal” and a re-pap was ordered. LONG story short, I have not had a normal Pap test since June 2007 and I’ve just been scheduled for my FOURTH colposcopy in less than 2 years. My pap results have gone from “atypical” to “abnormal” and I’m told I have mild dysplasia. No one but me seems to be alarmed at this and my doctor has told me that this kind of thing can be watched for up to 2 years without considering procedure such as a leap or D&C.

I’ve been getting Pap tests done every 3 months like clockwork and I just don’t know if the path I’m going down is aggressive enough? Any thoughts about having 2 years worth of progressively abnormal Pap tests with no procedures in sight? Thanks for the help!
