To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download MIGRAINE SUFFER 8YRS and COUNTING… My headaches began somewhere @ the age of 12 or 13. I would always get headaches often enough to remember, I was prescribed many medications. Tyenol, Advil, Ibprofen then as I was getting older my doctor gave me Medrol, Imitrex, and Topamax. They worked for alittle while but I was still getting them. When i turned 18, I noticed my headaches got worse and much more sharp pain came with. Before long I had to cover my eyes w/ bright lighting, music and loud sounds I could no longer listen to, and perfume would start a headache. I thought these we’re all classical symptoms of Migraines. I did finally get refer to a neurologist, which all he did was issue me steroid packs and told me do not call them Migraines I haven’t diagnosis them as those. You probably just suffer fr. headaches like everyone else. After no help fr. him, I gave up. I started experiencing dizzy spells that would last for days and i would stumble into things. I then went to go to see a ENT specialist and he “diagnosis” me w/ suffering fr. Migraines w/ vertigo or auras. When I first visit this ENT doc I could tell he did not believe me either and sure enough when giving me the results he said “well, you do have vertigo assiocated w/ the headaches” Incredible, I thought so here I am w/ accurate results and diagonsis to back my claim and still my relief. All the ENT doc said was go back to my Neurologist, nah I need someone who is actually willing to help me. For 4yrs now, no luck trying to find a new neurologist. Then this past year, I had my routine eye exam and my doc told me, my eye pressures were high. Great, he then refer me to an Optometrist. There opt doc did a series of tests to check for glaucoma, mind you I am only 24yrs old now. He said’s yeah you have high pressures, come back in 3 months and we’ll retest. Three months later, tests come back high this time though he ask me no family history, right? No no family history, he then asks me the weirdest question: Do you suffer fr. headaches? OMG YES!! I tell him my history of having long drawn out Migraines Doc tells me the funny thing is you have some vision loss, the cloudyness in your cornea. But your nerve endings @ the back of your eyes are still intact. He said patient’s how have glaucoma symptoms get the reverse the nerve endings are the first to go, then a long down the road they have vision loss…hummmm. So I told him about the dead ends I have come across, and when he ask me what are you taking for the Migraines. I said maybe Alieve, most of the times I have learned to live w/ the pain. He did not like that answer, so as we speak I has refered to an optomertist/neurologist to discuss what’s going on w/ me. And he asured me he was not going to give up on me!! After reading my long journey I hope the rest of you all out there don’t give up w/ finding an answer. I never expected an eye exam would be a piece of the puzzle, you just never know. I will keep you posted after the meeting. Comments
