I WANT TO WEAR SHOES AND BE PAINFREE AGAIN…
by: Donna on Mon, Nov 09 2009

I broke my left foot in May 2007 and after it healed it continued to hurt. Dr. kept doing x-rays and said he had no idea why it still hurt. Started going to an orthopedic Dr. who through an MRI found I had a tumor that was growing to a nerve and I had surgery to remove the tumor and part of the nerve. Still hurt. Ended up with another Dr. the first of this year who ordered a nerve test. From that it was determined I had RSD Because I was so far into it, nerve blocks didn’t affect it at all. I had a spinal cord implant 9 weeks ago and am still trying to adjust and heal from that. I still have foot pain and even though I can tell some difference, it isn’t enough to make life anywhere close to where it was 2 1/2 years ago. Can’t walk, stand or sit for long.I haven’t worn shoes since May 2007 and that too makes it hard to do lots of things you normally do. I am learning that this is it for life and will only get worse. I am trying to enjoy life while I can since the future is unknown. This disease is bad and the bad thing is, no one can know the pain you feel since you look normal and pain can’t be measured. My husband has been wonderful and supportive and has taken over many things I can no longer do but…….I want my life back and know I will never get it.

  • My Horrible Story… - by DeAnna - (Mon, Nov 30 2009)
It all started in 2006. I fell down some stairs in my townhouse and pulled some ligaments and messed up my right ankle. Of course i was on crutches for about 6 weeks for it to heal. After the 6 weeks it still felt like it wasn’t absolutely healed so i my orthopedic put me in a Walking Boot to help me walk and with the pain i even had to sleep in it. So i was on that for 6 months and they still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. So i went to a diff doctor in my home state and he said “Oh you just need physical therapy” I had HUGE swelling in my right ankle and redness and he tells me that. I was furious. I even started crying. So then i went and saw another doctor and he told me it was because i had flat feet and took me off the pain medication i was on. [more..]
