I was at work and got off early when a friend came up and asked if I wanted to hang out with him and some friends. Of course I went with him because I didn’t want to go home. After that night, we didn’t talk for 3 weeks straight, so I thought that it was just a one time thing. We had talked about getting together, but it never happened. 6 weeks after that night, I had a great day planned for my 17th birthday except for my annual checkup. At the doctor’s office, I found out that I was pregnant! I couldn’t believe it and the first thing I did was text my baby’s dad to tell him to call me. When he called, I told him the news. He was shocked and scared. All through the pregnancy I had another man by my side because my daughter’s real dad couldn’t handle the fact that he was going to have a baby. He had gotten another girlfriend and couldn’t get over the fact that I was pregnant. I was working full time and going to High school where I was a Junior. Many people told me that I should just drop out or go to a school that helps people graduate fast. I did not want to change schools or just not go because I was going to have a child. I wanted to succeed in life. Now, I am a senior in high school, I am taking college classes, still working full time, and taking care of my daughter. Being a mom is hard, but it’s worth every bit of the struggle. Because the look on my little angel’s face now is what keeps me going each day and it’s the light that guides me. Comments
